Thanks to Robyn and everyone on her crew for making the past few weeks so memorable! Right now I’m en route to Washington, DC and the beginning of a full on North American whirlwind with PS I Love You. It’s gonna be boss!
If you haven’t hear it already – our new single Leftovers is streaming all over the Interwebs. We’ll have copies of the 7″ for sale at the merch table on tour but if you can’t wait and want to pre-order check it out right here. We’re also going to be joined on tour with videographer extraordinaire Colin Medley, who’ll be rolling tape and capturing all the madness for posterity. If you see him at a show, please, buy him a drink!
Sorry to any and all who I didn’t get to meet in Columbus, Detroit, and Chicago over the past few days! It was definitely a bummer having to postpone those gigs but I’m happy to say Robyn is feeling better and we totally killed it in Milwaukee tonight! The other good news is that Chicago has also been rescheduled for Valentine’s Day, February 14th and I’m already planning my outfit! Apparently life really is like a box of chocolates…
With Radio City Music Hall behind us tour has really started to kick into high gear! Getting to warm up that stage for Robyn and her crew was totally incredible. A big thanks to everyone that’s shown us love (no pun intended) so far! I’ve had so much fun and can’t wait to keep playing.
There have been a few more dates added to my upcoming tour with PS I Love You! Check the Events page for the full schedule and figure out which band T-Shirt shirt you’re gonna rock at the show!
Figure it out – DR
Only a few more sleeps until I hit the road with Robyn for what is definitely going to be a massive tour! Make sure you show up early for the opener, Natalia Kills, because I’ve seen her stuff on Youtube and she has backup dancers!
And if you’re totally bummed because the show in your hood is sold out – don’t worry! As soon as we wrap up I’ll be bouncing around North America for over a month with my pals PS I Love You. Check out the Events page to see when I’ll be in your area!
I’ve been back in T-Dot for just over a weekend and it’s been crazy busy already! Between CBC Radio Q with Jian Ghomeshi last Friday to MTV Live on Monday and a slammin’ huge throwdown at Hype House courtesy of the fine folks at Soundscapes the other night, it’s really been been non-stop.
While we’re in the business of keeping it fresh, I guess it’d be prudent to finally announce that I’ll be opening for Robyn across North America in early 2011! The first gig is at Sound Academy here in Toronto, so get fierce, kids! Let’s hit one out of the park Joe Carter styles!
Talk soon – time to nap – DR
Greetings from the Garden State. I’m resting up in a Jersey motel after last night’s mayhem at Making Time in Philadelphia! Warpaint was boss, the crowd was rad, and I finally got to wear my vintage 76ers jacket!
There’s a bunch of cool stuff in the works right now, too. I’ll be the special musical guest on CBC’s Q on Friday, December 10th. Tune in around 10 am for what I can only imagine is going to be a great interview and a few special tunes. And if any of you are fans of Kids In The Hall, Scott Thomson (Toronto’s original peacock powered dragster) is going to be on the show too! I can’t even handle thinking about it!
Finally, to cap things off for 201o I’ll be rocking out at MTV Live on December 13th! Seats are almost all booked but if you get there early…?
More to come – DR
Sorry for the radio silence, but I’ve been on the road non-stop for the past few days driving up and down the west (and possibly best) coast! In addition to the scenery and sunshine the awesome part is that our rental has satellite radio and CBC Radio 3 has been the default soundtrack for this magical journey through the redwoods and ocean surf.
San Francisco and LA’s shows were totally amazing – as were all my gigs last weekend in Western Canada. Extra special thanks to everyone who braved the cold weather in Edmonton and Calgary and y’all ‘mericans who chose to spend Thanksgiving with yours truly. Thanks!
Here’s a pic of our dashboard from the other night. To rip a page from the book of one of my favourite bands Think About Life…”Radio DJs! Play my song! All day long I want to sing along! C’mon!”
If you’re in Seattle tomorrow I’ll be playing an in-store at Sonic Boom right before my all ages set at Vera Project! Acoustic, intimate, and interactive. F’real.
Yo Toronto! Get a load of the Diamond Rings Tour Bus, circa 2012, photographed on the mean streets of the UK. A boy can dream, right? Thanks to everyone who made the last two weeks such a real deal adventure…
I just touched down in Toronto this afternoon and have a day off to catch a breather before heading out west to bring Special Affections up and down the coast. I’ve also got a few last minute show updates:
I’ll be doing an afternoon show at the University of Calgary on November 19th as well as a rare in-store acoustic performance at Sonic Boom in Seattle on November 27th. I’m also super psyched to announce that I’ll opening up for Warpaint on December 3rd in Philadelphia at Voyeur! No news yet on whether or not the Fresh Prince himself is going to make a special guest appearance…
Stay Fierce – DR.
First off – I want to thank each and every single one of you who came out to my Canadian release shows last week with PS I Love You! Right now I’m across the pond playing some great gigs in the UK (that rad pic above was snapped on our way back to London from Cardiff) but I’ll be back in a few to bring the noise up and down the west coast from Vancouver to LA!
Of course, I’ll also have my new record Special Affections along for the ride, in addition to a few limited edition 7″ singles and banging new T-Shirt designs. But…if you can’t wait until I hit your town to pick up some swag check out the brand new Diamond Rings online store right here! Special thanks to the rad crew at Cardboard Box Project in Montreal for setting it all up!
Until the next time, keep fit! Have fun! DR.
What’s up, Canada? My shows with PS I Love You have all been awesome thus far and things are only getting better. We’re hitting Il Motore in Montreal tonight for a Hallowe’en spectacular, I’ve got seriously wicked new merch for sale, and we also managed to pick up a copy of MuchDance ’94 on cassette! Times are good.
Stay Fierce – DR
